January 14/15

OBJECTIVES:  Students will (1) identify appositive and participial phrases in a sentence in order to understand how writer's create sentences; (2) explain the specific purpose, controlling idea, and make inferences about expository text (3) evaluate expository literature through writing and develop response with effective supporting details

ACTIVITIES:

1.  Watch appositive and participial phrases  grammar videos on youtube
2.  Copy model sentence #3 and analyze:  "One evening late in January, a 21 year old name Peter Dut led his two teenage brothers through the brightly lighted corridors of the Minneapolis airport, trying to mask his confusion."
3.  Follow this link to evaluate the "The Lost Boys of Sudan" article by Sara Corbett and complete the OER (around 10 typed lines in the box).
