Objectives: Students will (1) understand the real world application of grammar; (2) use listening skills to identify most important details of a fable, paraphrase the fable in writing and write the moral in complete sentence. You will also practice internet research over a topic of choice, identifying most important and interesting details about a topic related to war.

(2) Journal: "The Soldier and His Horse" listen to the read aloud, paraphrase in journal, write thematic statement and discuss real world connections
(3) Mini informal research--choose topic relating to war and educate yourself about it--writing assignment next class period using what you learned (5, 6, 7, 8)
